He obtained his medical degree from the esteemed King Edward Medical College in 1985. Following his graduation, Dr. Nayyar Shah pursued further training and experience abroad, spending five years in the UK at North Staffordshire Royal Infirmary and General Hospital in Stoke-on-Trent. During this time, he served as a Rotating Registrar, gaining exposure to various medical disciplines including cardiology. He furthered his expertise by completing higher training and earning both Membership and Fellowship at the Royal College of Physicians in Edinburgh, Scotland.
Continuing his pursuit of excellence, Dr. Shah relocated to New York, where he completed his Internal Medicine residency and served as Chief Resident at Stony Brook University Medical Center. His dedication to teaching and excellence in residency earned him the prestigious David Weeks Memorial Best Resident Teaching Award.
Dr. Shah then pursued specialized training in cardiology and electrophysiology at the University of Oklahoma, a renowned institution known for its expertise in ablation and electrophysiology. Following the completion of his fellowship, he joined the faculty as an Assistant Professor before eventually settling in Fort Worth, Texas in 2000.
For over two decades, Dr. Shah has provided exemplary care in Fort Worth, establishing himself in private practice. He played a pivotal role in launching the EP program at Medical City Fort Worth and served as the Program Director for the Cardiology Fellowship from 2008 to 2016, subsequently serving as an Associate Program Director. His commitment to education and patient care has been recognized with awards such as the Best Resident Teaching Award in 2012 and the Fort Worth Business Press Health Care Hero Award.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Shah has actively contributed to advancements in cardiology through participation in device and drug research studies. He has held various leadership positions in hospital settings, including Chief of Cardiology at Medical City Fort Worth from 2017 to 2020.
Dr. Shah’s expertise extends beyond the confines of his practice, as he is the sole electrophysiologist serving Lake Granbury and Comanche County Hospitals, ensuring access to specialized care for patients in these areas.
