Dr. Lance E. Jackson, M.D., F.A.C.S., is a board-certified otolaryngologist specializing in Head and Neck Surgery, with additional board certification in the subspecialty of Neurotology. A San Antonio native, Dr. Jackson combines a unique background in engineering and medicine to provide highly specialized care for patients with disorders of the ear, hearing, balance, and skull base.
Before pursuing medicine, Dr. Jackson earned a degree in Electrical and Bioelectrical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where he conducted research in biomedical signal processing, bioelectric systems, and computer technology. His passion for innovation continues to influence his work today, supporting ongoing research and advancements in the diagnosis and treatment of complex ear disorders.
Dr. Jackson received a full-tuition scholarship to attend Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, where he graduated with distinction and was inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. He completed his residency in Otolaryngology at Stanford University before pursuing advanced fellowship training in Otology and Neurotology at the Ear Research Foundation in Florida. Following his fellowship, he served as the Foundation’s Director of Medical Education, mentoring physicians, advancing research, and helping shape the next generation of specialists.
Throughout his career, Dr. Jackson has remained deeply involved in academic medicine. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed journal articles, contributed textbook chapters, and presented his work at national and international conferences. He is a co-author of the textbook Minimally Invasive Otological Surgery and has published research in the New England Journal of Medicine. His expertise has earned him multiple research honors, including the John R. Smith Memorial Fund Award, and he continues to teach physicians from around the world through internationally recognized Otology and Neurotology training courses.
At Ear Institute of Texas, Dr. Jackson focuses exclusively on disorders affecting the ear and balance system, treating conditions such as hearing loss, dizziness, balance disorders, allergies, and complex skull base conditions. Working alongside the experienced Ear Institute of Texas team, he provides comprehensive diagnostic evaluations and advanced medical and surgical treatments for both children and adults.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Jackson enjoys staying active and spending time with his family. He has coached all three of his children in soccer, completed numerous half-marathons and marathons, and participated in medical mission trips to Honduras, where he and his family have provided medical care and health education to underserved communities. His dedication to service, innovation, and compassionate patient care continues to define every aspect of his practice.
