A native of Denton, Texas, he is dedicated to helping patients achieve both functional and cosmetic improvements through advanced surgical care of the eyelids, forehead, orbit, and lacrimal (tear drainage) system for both adults and children.
Dr. Alford earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Austin before completing medical school at UT Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. He then pursued residency training in ophthalmology at the University of Iowa, where he also completed a specialized fellowship in ophthalmic plastic surgery, gaining advanced expertise in this highly specialized field. In 2003, Dr. Alford co-founded North Texas Ophthalmic Plastic Surgery.
Throughout his career, Dr. Alford has remained deeply involved in research and medical education. He has authored numerous articles and book chapters focused on ophthalmic plastic surgery and developed a blepharoplasty course that he teaches at the annual meeting of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. In recognition of his contributions to the field, he received the prestigious Research Award from the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in 2001.
A nationally recognized leader in ophthalmic plastic surgery, Dr. Alford frequently lectures and teaches at national conferences and remains active in several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He sees patients at multiple locations throughout North Texas, including Fort Worth, Arlington, and Irving.
