Dr. Brennig earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in biological sciences from The University of Texas at Austin and his medical degree from The University of Texas Medical School in Houston. He completed his general surgery internship at Baylor College of Medicine, followed by a general surgery residency at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, where he served as chief surgery resident.
During his five-year residency, Dr. Brennig developed a strong interest in vascular disease and minimally invasive, catheter-based therapies. He went on to complete a two-year vascular surgery fellowship at Tufts University Medical Center in Boston, focusing on advanced endovascular and complex venous interventions. After seven years of specialized training, he was recruited to Austin by St. David’s HealthCare System to deliver state-of-the-art vascular care to patients throughout Central Texas facing life- and limb-threatening vascular conditions.
Dr. Brennig has built a highly respected vascular and endovascular surgery practice, specializing in the care of severe and complex arterial and venous conditions. An award-winning surgeon, Dr. Brennig has been named a “Top Doctor” by Austin Monthly Magazine. He has authored and presented multiple research papers, published clinical articles, and regularly trains physicians and healthcare professionals in emerging vein and minimally invasive vascular therapies.
With extensive experience treating some of the most challenging vascular conditions, Dr. Brennig has developed a highly individualized approach to vein care. He is recognized for his expertise in managing blood clots, chronic venous insufficiency, leg swelling, and associated skin conditions such as ulcers, hemorrhage, and dermatitis. He also provides advanced “rescue” treatments for patients with recurrent varicose veins following unsuccessful prior procedures.
