Dr. Alsheikh brings a wealth of experience and expertise to his practice, having taught for three years as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) in Galveston. During his time there, he educated aspiring ophthalmologists on the fundamentals of Cataract and LASIK surgery. He also held key leadership roles, serving as the Chairperson of the Quality Care Committee and as Director of the Ocular Surgical Simulation Program. In addition to his teaching, Dr. Alsheikh continues to contribute to the field through clinical research as a Clinical Research Professor at UTMB.

Dr. Alsheikh completed his medical education at Texas Tech Health Science Center and went on to complete his ophthalmology residency at Oregon Health Science Center. He further refined his skills with a corneal fellowship at the University of California, San Diego. His journey has allowed him to work with a diverse range of patients, colleagues, and mentors across the United States, and he is deeply committed to listening to and learning from his patients in San Antonio.

His areas of expertise include Corneal Transplantation, LASIK surgery, ocular surface reconstruction, cataract surgery (ranging from simple to complex cases), and the use of both standard and premium lens implants. He also specializes in corneal cross-linking.

Dr. Alsheikh’s approach to patient care is centered on a commitment to excellence, with a focus on ensuring patient satisfaction. His goal is to consistently provide care that places patient needs and outcomes as the highest priority, aiming to achieve satisfaction levels in the 95th percentile.

Currently, Dr. Alsheikh is engaged in multiple studies related to Glaucoma, Dry Eye, and Cataracts, building on his previous experience participating in an FDA study related to ocular allergies. Through his work and research, Dr. Alsheikh remains dedicated to advancing the field of ophthalmology and improving the lives of his patients.
