Marr Kirkland Eye Center
Since opening its doors in 1984, Marr Eye Center has been committed to delivering outstanding ophthalmic care to the residents of Bryan, College Station, and the greater Brazos Valley. Founded by Dr. Bill Marr, the practice was built on a simple but powerful vision: to combine medical excellence with compassionate, patient-centered care.
Dr. Marr brought together a skilled team of physicians and dedicated staff who shared his passion for helping others see clearly and live fully. Over the years, that commitment has grown into a trusted legacy—one defined by professionalism, personalized attention, and a strong sense of community.
Today, we proudly carry that legacy forward. Marr Eye Center remains devoted to providing the highest level of care and service for our patients and their families. Whether you’re seeking routine eye exams or advanced surgical treatment, we’re honored to serve as your trusted eye care team in the Brazos Valley.
Dr. Kirkland is a board-certified ophthalmologist with advanced training in cornea, cataract, and refractive surgery. He brings a personalized, expert approach to eye care for patients in the Greater Bryan/College Station area. Dr. Kirkland earned his undergraduate degree from Baylor University and completed medical school at the University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth. He went on to complete his ophthalmology residency at the University of Arkansas, followed by a fellowship in cornea and refractive surgery at Duke Eye Center—one of the nation’s leading institutions in eye care. There, he trained alongside internationally recognized leaders in corneal and refractive surgery, gaining extensive hands-on experience in both complex and routine procedures.
A West Texas native, Dr. Kirkland grew up in a family of ophthalmologists and was inspired early on by his father’s medical mission work. He began participating in vision-restoring mission trips to Mexico before he even began medical school, and he continues that legacy today through global outreach efforts, including surgical missions in Honduras.
Throughout his training, Dr. Kirkland earned multiple accolades, including the Mary and Raymond Morris Ophthalmology Residency Award (2018) and the Ophthalmology Resident Teacher of the Year Award (2020). Despite these honors, his greatest priority remains delivering compassionate, high-quality care that’s centered on each patient’s unique needs and goals.
Dr. Kirkland is proud to serve his community with cutting-edge treatments, a patient-first philosophy, and a lifelong dedication to restoring and preserving vision.
