Dr. Edward Baumgartner, Jr.
Houston native, Texas Top Doctor, and founding physician of HTx Pain Institute, Edward Baumgartner, Jr., M.D. has built his career on a simple belief: restoring comfort, mobility, and quality of life to patients living with chronic pain. With offices in Northwest Houston and Humble, Dr. Baumgartner leads a family-led interventional pain management practice known for combining advanced minimally invasive procedures with the thoughtful, personalized care patients tell us has become rare elsewhere.
Double board-certified in Anesthesiology and Pain Management, Dr. Baumgartner has practiced interventional pain medicine for more than fifteen years. His clinical work focuses on the most advanced procedures available today — including the Intracept Procedure for vertebrogenic low back pain, spinal cord stimulation, radiofrequency ablation, SI joint fusion (Minuteman, LinQ), kyphoplasty, the MILD Procedure for lumbar spinal stenosis, and platelet-rich plasma therapy. He is particularly recognized for his work with patients who have been told their only remaining option is spine surgery — and for whom minimally invasive interventional alternatives can deliver real, lasting relief.
At the center of Dr. Baumgartner’s approach is the belief that no two patients experience pain the same way. Rather than one-size-fits-all solutions, he develops individualized treatment strategies built around each patient’s symptoms, goals, and lifestyle. His priority is not simply to reduce pain, but to help patients restore function, return to the activities that matter most to them, and rebuild the independence chronic pain often takes away.
Known for his approachable and attentive style, Dr. Baumgartner believes that strong patient relationships begin with listening. He practices alongside his wife, Tatyana Baumgartner — the practice’s Chief Operating Officer — in a setting that combines institute-caliber clinical work with the personal accountability of a small Houston practice. Beyond the clinic, Dr. Baumgartner and his family are committed supporters of Ima’s Home for Children, a 501(c)(3) caring for 155 orphaned children in the Philippines. HTx Pain Institute is the five-year presenting sponsor of the annual Ima’s Home 5K.

This place is amazing. They have reduced my pain immensely caused from a birth defect that I have been told for 30 years that there was nothing that could be done. Well Dr. Baumgartner had the answer. Staff is great. Never have to wait long. Dr. Baumgartner and his right-hand lady, NP Allison, are the best. Both listen to you, are patient with you, don’t rush you out, and give you many options of treatment. I always make late-day appointments and their personality and attitudes are still awesome. Won’t go anywhere else.
Great experience with Dr. Baumgartner and his friendly, accommodating staff. Drove from Austin for an appointment regarding sciatica pain I had for 18 months. They were able to get me in for an appointment and steroid shot the next morning. I feel 110% for the first time in a long time.
Dr. Baumgartner and Allison are so wonderful. My parents started going there years ago and the rest of my family is now going too. My husband has RA and I have PsA. They have been life-changing for us. I absolutely love the staff.
Dr. Baumgartner, Allison, and staff are professional and caring. They listen and treat the problems you have so you can feel comfortable and reduce your pain. They are absolutely the best.
